CORRECTION

This sentence (in the second paragraph) is an editorial merging of three separate events:

"Even as late as 1922, more than a million citizens attended the dedication of the tomb built in his honor in New York City, where he was laid to final rest with his beloved Julia."

1. In fact, the dedication of Grant's tomb occured in 1897, attended by over a million people.

2. In 1922, Julia Dent Grant, died and was laid to rest next to Ulysses.

3. For the centennial of Grant's birth, also in 1922, a memorial to Grant was dedicated in front of the capitol in Washington, D.C., including a wonderful equestrian statue.
